To me, he's one of the worst serial killers on Earth yet so unkown to this world. Not only did he kidnap, rape and murder young girls for almost 2 decades with the help of his cunning accomplice but he's still managing to keep the police away from his secret graveyard.
Why haven't the police checked the serial killer's graveyard knowing there's still bodies in there? What was the one thing in common between these girls? But most importantly, how did this murderer and his cunning accomplice get away for this long?

Since our criminals are from Belgium, you guessed it...
We're going to travel over there to where the crime takes place, so let's start shall we?
It all begins when the police station gets a visit from a 14-year-old girl who reveals to them she was kidnapped by a man and was able to escape from the van. Luckily, she managed to get a picture of the registration plate and recognise the kidnapper thanks to the person she found on the street who took her to the station.
As soon as the police heard what happened to the 14-year-old girl, not only did they find the culprit but instantly made the link with the disappearances of two Ardennaises girls, Celine and Mananya, who were found dead.
Turns out the criminals were a married couple called Michel Fourniret and Monique Olivier.
The police manages to convince Monique to talk, maybe because she's a mother and wishes to have less of a sentence as possible to someday see her son again, that she admits their crimes, who knows?
But Moninque betrays Michel and confesses that they've killed Celine and Mananya.
The police found out a disturbing fact that the couple would reenact the rape scenes during their intercourse. Monique would repeat what Mananya said before getting murdered: "You want me to make love to you sir?"
After 10 months of silence, Michel admits that he's killed 7 other girls...
The diabolical couple used 2 methods to lure in their victims:
The method that was used the most was when they picked their vitims in advance and followed them around in their van until it was the right time to strike. Monique would act lost, ask the girls for directions and obviously they trusted Monique not beause she was female but because she was 8 months pregnant at the time.
That's right, the couple used their own son as bait to lure in their victims.
As soon as the girls got into the van, Michel would act like a hitchhiker down the road so that Monique could pick him up and that's when the nightmare began.
However, it is said that Michel would ask a specific question before killing his victims.
But before I reveal it to you, let's find out the other method...
The second way they used to lure in their victims was different from the first but using the same bait. They used their son again but Michel would act alone. He would pick his victim, talk to them then ask them if they wanted to play or babysit his son at home.
On their way to his house or castle, he would ask the same specific question before killing them.
You must be dying to know what the question is. It's quite a weird yet a simple question.
He would ask them: "Are you a virgin?"
You're probably wondering why he would target virgins...
To understand his reason, we're going to take a trip to the past because with every serial killer, there's always a cause to why there's one thing in common with their victims and usually it's something to do with their childhood.
Michel was born in 1943 and was the youngest of the family of 5. He was doing well in school and had good grades but even though his school life was great, his family lifestyle was a bit different.
His father was a soldier and his mum was a housemaid.
There was rumour saying his mum was committing adultery so they got a divorce. Michel was then raised by his mum.
It is said during his chilhood, they had an incest relationship with his mum or he was sexually assaulted.
At the age of 21, Michel got married and had his first son called Nicholas.However, he realised his wife (who was his first) wasn't a virgin when they first met and felt like an idiot for saving his virginity.
This is when he went off the rails. He groped a minor in his car.
As soon as his wife heard about it, they instantly got a divorce.
Then Michel got married a second time and was blessed with another son and twin daughters but Michel still wasn't satisfied. To test how far he could go, he created a scenario, kidnapped a 14-year-old girl called Dahina, made her believe he was a prisoner escaping the country and had to rape her so they don't believe she's his accomplice.
He was then arrested and charged for 16 counts of sexual assault then got a divorce. This is how he met Monique.
Monique was a divorced woman with 2 sons who was reading a religious magazine which showed Michel's advert about wanting a pen pal. She decided to contact him and during their letters exchange, Michel expressed to her his dark fantasy. He wanted to know the mystery behind virginity.
Instead of feeling disgusted and cutting ties with him, she decided to make a pact with him. Monique would deliver him 4 virgins if he killed her ex-husband. In 1987, Michel was released from prison and met his future accomplice.
Couple of months later, they committed their first murder, Isabelle.
Like I said, the criteria of Michel were females and virgins however there are 2 of his victims that were killed for different reasons: Jeanne-Marie and Farida.
I haven't been completely honest with you. There were actually 3 methods to how the couple lured in their victims. I just wanted to save the worst for last.
So method no.3: Michel thought it'd be "funny" to go undercover and get their victim's trust before committing these horrific acts. Monique and Michel changed their names to "Pierre" and "Pierrette" and met Jeanne-Marie, a 22-year-old, at a train station.
They visited her at her college, took her out on a picnic and even brought their 8-month old son. They planned to kill her on a specific date, 11th of March, but Jeanne-Marie never showed up. Unfortunately, they met her on the 18th March and that's was the last time Jeanne-Marie was seen alive.
Michel took her to his castle and found out that she wasn't a virgin. He was so angry, he insulted, tried to rape her with the help of Monique but she fought back so much, it woke up baby Selim. Michel then told her this from word to word: "The physical conflict overpowers the sexual envy."
He strangled her and left her body in the freezer for 3 days. Her body was then found 15 years later along with another girl called Elisabeth Britchet.
The other victim that also had a different backstory was Farida. This story is the key to understand how Michel managed to get a house, castle and his private graveyard when he's not even rich.
In 1987, when Michel was getting to know Monique, he was sharing his cell with a man called Jean-Pierre. After the couple's first murder, they recieved a phone call from Jean-Pierre to team up with his wife to find a treasure.
The deal was to split it 60/40 however Monique claims that Michel thought it'd be great to have everything to himself. Before killing her, her last word were "Don't kill me like this."
There's 3 different versions of the ending but no one know's who telling the truth. Farida's body was never found 'till this day and with the treause, Michel bought his van, house and castle.
With the house he bought, Michel had a garden called "Jardin D'enfants" which means children's playground in French. Why haven't the police searched it?
Stephane Bourgoin, a French serial killer expert says that the police have found 4 unknown hair strands found in his van but also Michel has a notary act preventing the legal authorities to search his garden.There's been a recent update about this problem: the police managed to search his garden even was able to dig however, Michel digs his victim 4 to 6 metres deep and the police haven't dug deep enough. Meaning that it is possible that there's more bodies hidden in there.
Selim was 13 when his parents got arrested. He was then raised by Monique's ex-husband and after finding out what his parents' done, he cut ties with them. Nicolas died at the age of 24, trying to prove to Michel that he's not weak even with his inproportianate hands (that he inherited from Michel). One of Michel's twin daughters killed herself beause she couldn't bare the pain anymore.
In Natacha's case (one of Michel's victims), before finding out the true culprits, the police blamed Natacha's neighbour of murder because he also had a white van. That man committed suicide because he, too, couldn't bare the blame for a crime he did not do.
Overall, Michel is a man who takes pleasure being compared to the devil and adores it when people think he's not capable of feelings and to me, Monique is as bad as him, if not, worse.
Their crimes have not only hurt their victim's families but also their loved ones and even people who are innocent.
I hope this wasn't too hard for you to digest. Obviously, it wasn't going to be a happy ending but there was too many tragedies, right?
